Fall Trends 2011: Polka Dots

Hey lovies, there are so many trends this fall, including mustard, peplum everything, and a little touch of lace. Today I will be talking to you about one of my favorites this year, POLKA DOTS! I love polka dots soooo much! They look good with almost anything and in any color. Polka Dots are so easy to wear and look good on everyone!!
Anyway, we obviously see trends on the runway, which can be too expensive for most, so I put together a little STYLE PROFILE of this year's trends at affordable prices!
I gathered all these lovely looks from Forever 21, Asos, and Urban Outfitters!

These blazers look great with so many different things. I would style these with a white tank and a pencil skirt!

These tops are also easily styled. You could wear these with a skirt, jeans or anything!

Wear this gorgeous dress with some colored pumps and you are good to go :)

A scarf adds a little more sophistication to any outfit. Pair this with a blazer, t-shirt and a pair of nice fitting jeans :)

Adding polka dot print to any outfit gives it more flare and style.

Don't forget about jewelry. Pairing bright-colored necklaces and rings with any polka dot outfit looks edgy and sexy.

Hope you all enjoyed this STYLE PROFILE!!

Back to Basics: Face Shapes and Contouring

Hey lovies! I wanted to talk to you all about face shapes and how to properly contour those shapes to give a more even look. To begin, there are SEVEN FACE SHAPES that need to be discussed. The first is the classic oval shape. This shapes is considered to be the "perfect" face shape because it is longer than it is wide. Also with an OVAL shape there are no points or sharp edges.
*Celebs with this shape are: Eva Mendes, Megan Fox and Halle Berry*

The next shape is ROUND, also called lunar or ball shaped. This shape is broader in proportion than in length.
To correct this shape, contour along the sides of the forehead and temples, and also the sides of the face.
*Celebs with a round shape: Kelly Clarkson, Cameron Diaz, and Julia Stiles*

The next shape is SQUARE meaning the browbone, cheekbones, and jawbone are all the same width. The width of the face is approximately 2/3 the length, making the face look shorter. To correct this shape, contour the jawline from the bottom of the ears to the chin, and blend down the neck.

*Celebs with this shape: Paris Hilton and Raquel Welsh*

Next is the shape OBLONG meaning the shape is longer than it is wide, and narrow through the center. The browbone, cheekbone, and jawbone are all the same width. To correct this shape contour from one temple to the other and from the ear, along the jawline, to the other ear.
*Celebs with this shape: Jennifer Aniston and Gwenth Paltrow*

The fifth shape is called DIAMOND meaning the face is broad from ear to ear and narrow from the chin to the forehead. To correct this shape, contour along the jawline and across the sharp angle of the chin.
*Celebs with this shape are: Rihanna and Christina Aguilera*

The next shape is called TRIANGULAR or pear-shaped face. What this means is that the face has a narrow forehead and a broad or square jawline. To correct this shape, contour the full jawline starting at the bottom of the ears down at an angle to where the chin begins.
*Celebs with this shape are: Pink and Kate Bosworth*

Lastly, the inverted triangle, better known as the HEART shape. This means that the forehead is significantly wider than the jawline and the browbone is equal to or wider than the cheekbones. To correct this shape, contour the wide sides of forehead, and the jawbone over the point of the chin.
*Celebs with this shape are: Reese Witherspoon and Madonna*

With all this said, knowing your facial shape can really help to understand how to contour.
Hope you all enjoyed :)

EOTD June 5, 2011

Hey lovies! Here is my EOTD (6/5/11). First I just have to say that unfortunately, I had some creasing, which made me very upset, AND I did use a primer :( Anyway, I used the UD Naked Palette today. The colors that I used are:

1. I blended “BUCK” in the crease
2. I dabbed “SIN” as my inner corner highlight
3. I dabbed “HALF-BAKED” on the middle third of my lid
4. I dabbed “SMOG” on the outer third of the lid
5. Next, I used “DARKHORSE” in my crease to add some contrast
6. Finally, I used “VIRGIN” as a highlight
I do have to say that I decided to take these pics after a very long day at church, then dinner at Olive Garden.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy :)

Beauty Tip of the Week: Undertones

So, I have decided to start to be more consistent with my posting, so along with my makeup vids, which I will be doing twice a week, I wanted to give you lovies a beauty tip of the week, as well. With all that said, the beauty tip of the week is…drum roll please…Make sure you know your skin’s undertone. Now, this might sound weird, why would you need to know your undertone?? Well, this is very important in choosing the right foundation shade. Foundation is the most crucial part of a makeup application that, without the proper knowledge, can be easily messed up. Now, there are three types of skintones; warm, neutral, and cool. Warm skintones are those that show reds or oranges through the color of the skin. Neutral skintones are those that are olive or yellow. Lastly, cool skintones are those that show blues or purples through the skin. Can you guess with one I am??
The reason this is important is because you want to choose the right foundation shade that will not make you look too ashy or too tan. I remember when I was first learning about foundation, I purchased a shade that was, now that I know, a cool tone, which I am not. I am neutral (a mix between cool and warm…sucks trying to find the right shade…). Anyway, finding the right foundation shade is a crucial step in makeup application because it is the “foundation” for the rest of your makeup look, so choose wisely!

Swatches of Jesse's Girl Single Eyeshadow Pigments

Hey lovies, I have been gone for so long, BUT Im BACK!!!
Today I decided to do some long awaited swatches of the Jesse's Girl Pigments that I picked up at IMATS back in April...smh on my part. Anyway, just wanted to share with you all the lovely pigments that I picked up.
The first color from the left is called Hi Ho Silver. I love this beautiful color. It would look good with a dark smokey eye, maybe combined with the next color called Blackstar Blue. This is the most gorgeous blackish-blue I have ever seen!!! I can't wait to use this color. The next is a duo-chrome called Secret Weapon. This color is amazing because it looks white in the pot, but it applies like a sky blue! Next is Indian Summer and after that is Key Lime. I love both of these colors for summer makeup looks!!

Hope you all enjoy!
Look out for tutorials using these colors!

Sonia Kashuk Limited Edition Brush Set: Review

I recently purchased a Sonia Kashuk Makeup Brush set from Target. These brushes are limited edition and cost about $24.99. The set comes with seven brushes and a case to hold the brushes.
Now the review I promised!
Can I just say that I love these brushes!! The powder brush is great. It is perfectly fluffy and great for blush or cheek highlight (which is what I use it for). The eyeshadow brush is also great for the price! It really picks up eyeshadows and packs them on the lid! The next brush, which I love even more is the large fluff blending brush! It it really light and fluffy and easily distributes the color around the crease. Next is the angled liner brush, which I use to fill in my brows. This brush is great because it is dense enough to get the job done! The other brushes that come with the set are the foundation brush, which I haven't used because I don't wear liquid foundation. But the brush seems nice, and it is soft. The only thing is that the brush seems too small if you want a fast application. The other two brush are the concealer brush and the crease brush. I have used the concealer brush, and it is okay. But I prefer to use my fingers. The last brush is the crease brush, which I haven't used yet either. But from initial reactions to it, it seems like it is a great brush. It is small enough to fit in the crease, and dense enough to pick up color!! Last but not least, the case that the brushes come in is really nice. I am actually thinking about wearing it as a clutch for when I go out!

Overall, I think this set is a great set, especially for the price!
I would recommend this set to anyone, especially people looking for a great, yet inexpensive brush set.

Hope you all enjoyed :)

Urban Decay Naked Palette Look #1

Hey guys!
I am going to be doing a series of looks using the UD Naked Palette, just to show how versatile this palette is. This look I did the other day just going to Walmart, LOL. The color I used are Toasted all over the lid, Buck in the crease, Sin as a highlight and Hustle under the lashline.
On the face:
MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural in Medium Deep
Sephora Blush Me in Apricot #11 as a Highlight
Forever 21 Blush in Rose

On the lips:
E.l.f. Super Shiny gloss in Pink Kiss

Hope you all enjoy :)

Urban Decay Naked Palette

I recently got the last ~UD Naked Palette~ from my local Ulta.
Can I just say that I love this palette.
The colors are so vibrant and pigmented, but what else would you expect from Urban Decay?
The palette that I got was $48 because it included a shadow brush, instead of the double-ended liner pencil.
The brush that the palette came with could be better.
It is not dense enough to pick up the shadow.
But I can say that I will continuously use the brush.

Here a pic of the Shadows!
Starting from the top row, from left to right:
Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck and Half Baked.
The bottom row starting from left to right:
Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal.
Out of all the shadows, my two favorite, since I couldn't just choose one, are Half Baked and Smog!
These colors look fantastic on ANY SKIN COLOR
The tip of the brush is nice because it is round and fits nicely under the crease!
Overall, I love this palette because it is very versatile and all the colors look great on every skin tone!!

Here's is where you can buy the palette:
Just type in Naked Palette, and it should come up!
Hope you enjoyed :)
